Keep your asset status information up-to-date in MET/CAL with Barcode Magician®

Barcode Magician® is designed to work with Fluke's MET/CAL and MET/TRACK products to automate repetitive database entry tasks such as checking in/out equipment, or changing equipment status simply and consistently for quantities of assets by entering an Action Code. This Action Code can be manually entered at a keyboard but accuracy and simplcity are improved by using barcode scanner to read preprinted action code labels. Barcode Magician® is available with two feature levels - Basic and Plus.

Barcode Magician® is also provided in two versions depending on your MET/CAL installation:

Barcode Magician® 1.6 (For MET/CAL and MET/TRACK version 7 only)
Barcode Magician® 1.7 (For MET/CAL and MET/TRACK version 7.1 or later only)

BarcodeMagician® Basic

Barcode Magician® Basic provides a simple, easy to use interface that allows your calibration technicians and instrument custodians a way to update your Fluke MET/CAL database quickly and efficiently while at the same time drastically reducing data entry errors and substantially increasing productivity. By using a barcode scanner in conjunction with this software, you can automate such tasks as:

Checking in/out equipment from a tool crib or instrument impound area.
Updating in-process status descriptors.
Changing location and association of assets.
Accepting instrumentation for repair work.
Virtually any database function except for adding inventory records, calibration records and repair records.

Barcode Magician® Plus

The Barcode Magician® Plus product provides additional capabilities to the Basic product.including:

Batch calibration feature
Work order numbering
Manual calibration results entry
Clone action code function

Updating Existing Barcode Magician® Version 1.5 Systems

For existing Barcode Magician® Version 1.5 Systems, an upgrade is available. You must run the license registration report and fax this to On Time Support.

Important Note: Remember that all BCM stations must be upgraded to the same version, for example 1.6. You can mix 1.6 Basic stations and 1.6 Plus stations on the same system.

Barcode Magician® version 1.6.8 (Basic and Plus) Service Pack 5
(for version 7.10 and higher of MET/BASE).
Note: This new Runtime module replacement fixes 11 minor bugs and can be used on MB version 7.1x and higher plus it fixes a major problem with error "9 Subscript out of range" when running Crystal 10 reports.

Barcode Magician® License Report
(For versions 1.5 and 1.6 only)
Written in Crystal Reports 7.0, but will run under Crystal Reports 8.0. Save this report as a general report in MET/TRACK. This report is used to determine how many licenses are installed on your system.

Barcode Magician® Calibration Certification Reports
(For versions 1.5 and 1.6 only)
Written in Crystal Reports 8.0. Save these reports in the MTBCM16 directory. Use ISQL to install the OTS_V7_CALRESULTS stored procedure. These reports can be used with the Quick Cal Action Code or the Long form Calibration including cal results.

Barcode Magician® Calibration Sticker Reports
(For versions 1.5 and 1.6 only)
Written in Crystal Reports 8.0. Save these reports in the MTBCM16 directory. These reports are used with the Brother P-touch printers.

Barcode Magician® Action Codes Report
(For versions 1.5 and 1.6 only)
Written in Crystal Reports 7.0, but will run under Crystal Reports 8.0. Save this report as a general report in MET/TRACK. This report lists the action code details on your system.

Barcode Magician® Action Codes Report
(For versions 1.6.1 only)
Written in Crystal Reports 10. Save this report as a general report in MET/TRACK. This report lists the action code details on your system.

Barcode Magician® version 1.6 (Basic and Plus) German phrase file for Barcode Magician 1.6

(for version 7.10 and higher of MET/BASE).
Note: This phrase file will display the BCM buttons and controls in German. It does not fit all the buttons perfectly, but it works pretty well. To install, stop BCM. Rename the old bcmphrases.txt file to oldbcmphrases.txt. Download the GERMANbcmphrases.txt file to the BCM directory. Rename the GERMANbcmphrases.txt file to bcmphrases.txt.

Barcode Magician® version 1.7.1 (Basic and Plus) Installation Program
(for version 7.1 to 8.1+ of MET/BASE only, 32 and 64 bit). This installation installs the Crystal Reports 10 Run Time Program and is compatible with MET/CAL/TRACK 7.3 and Crystal Reports 12. You can create BCM reports using the Crystal 12 editor for MET/TRACK 7.3. It is also compatible with older versions of MET/TRACK.
Note: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Barcode Magician®, please read the installation section of the manual carefully. Run the registration program from the same directory that BCM 1.7 is installed in. If you have Barcode Magician® 1.7.0 and want to upgrade to Barcode Magician® 1.7.1, you should uninstall the existing Barcode Magician® 1.7.0 program and install the new Barcode Magician® 1.7.1. You will have to register one of your existing Barcode Magician® 1.7.1 licenses.

Barcode Magician® version 1.6.1 (Basic and Plus) Installation Program
(for version 7.1x and 7.2x of MET/BASE only). Compatible with Crystal 10 Reports.

Note: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Barcode Magician®, please read the installation section of the manual carefully.
